Homefront: The Revolution Getting Year Free DLC

Dambuster Studios recently sent out a statement saying they’re going to support Homefront: The Revolution with ‘at least a years’ worth of free DLC.

Fasahat Salim announced that there will be no locked content behind any microtransaction crates you can purchase in game for real money. Which will be great for people who don’t like to spend their money on ingame purchases.

It is a possibility that missions released after launch will be part of the newly announced Resistance mode. However no confirmation has been made about this.

Dead Rising 4 in Development?

A recently posting on Capcom’s Vancouver’s blog revealed that there are 2 unannounced projects being working on and they will be utilizing Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4.

There is a currently listing for 18 positions, with one mentioning ‘2 unannounced projects to play’. Could one of these projects be Dead Rising 4? Both of these projects will be using Unreal Engine 4 instead of the proprietary engines Capcom have used in the past. This is a huge step in my opinion, Unreal Engine 4 will be used for games such as; Ark: Survival Evolved, Crackdown 3, Dead Island 2 and Final Fantasy VII Remake. This could open several new doors when it comes to a game such as Dead Rising 4, all I can do is wait to see what they can produce if Dead Rising 4 is an unannounced project.

City Skylines Snowfall Expansion Announced

City Skylines second expansion was announced yesterday and is scheduled for release later this year on PC and MAC.

The Snowfall expansion will include the following content;

• An improved weather system which will add rain and fog for all existing maps, with a new ‘winter’ map theme also being added.
• An expanded range of public transportation options, with the addition of Trams as demanded by fans.
• An increased demand for electricity with colder weather and the addition of a snowplow depot to help ease traffic flow during winter weather.

Even though a price has not be announced for Snowfall, going with City Skylines first expansion maybe they will price it similar $15 – $20 or maybe even free.

City Skylines is also set to release on Xbox one, yet a release date has yet to be announced.

Elder Scrolls Online 2016 Plans

Zenimax Online recently shared details about what they’re planning for their MMO this year.

Content wise, they’re planning on adding two major DLCs. These DLCs are; Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Thieves Guild will be the first DLC that drops, which is set to arrive in Q1. As per usual it will be on the Public Test Server in February, there will also be some minor updates and fixes to the core game.

The Dark Brotherhood will arrive just a little after in Q2 and will be set on the Gold Coast of Cyrodill, this will contain new gameplay elements and story content.

LeRay Presents: My Most Wanted Reboots

Before I jump straight into this list I want to let you all know that this was a difficult one for me. With there being so many great older games from previous generations of consoles. Yet I have managed to pick my Top 5 favourites that I would like to see rebooted for current generation consoles.

So without any further ado let me get into my 5 Most Wanted Reboots

(List in descending order)

Oh who doesn’t love themselves a bit of Scarface? Even though this game is set after events of the film itself, with having Tony Montana survive and seek revenge on those who attacked him and not actually being voiced by Al Pacino himself. It did amazingly well.

Trying to take back the Miami drug trade by destroying rival gangs was just brilliant, a huge selection of weaponry which was accessible and not to mention the cars you could buy and steal.

I loved the progression system, with you unlocking more and more from a driver to even an assassin.

If they decided to reboot this game, with an all new engine, updated graphics and more weapons then I would gladly throw my money at them.

I don’t know what it is, but I just love western style games. Ever since I played Gun I couldn’t get enough of it. That and because I enjoy a bit of history and for those that have never actually played Gun, you do journey to El Dorado.

Being able to hunt and kill animals, causing mayhem everywhere and not to mention, fighting off the law and gunslingers if any should try it. To me this was somewhat an inspiration for Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption.

There wasn’t much of a weapon system but that can be sorted rather simply if a reboot would every actually happen amongst other things also.

Yes as you would imagine this game has made my list. Rockstars North Man Hunt now banned around most of the world is justifiable. This was one of the most brutal, violent and graphical games of 2003. In my opinion there hasn’t been one since either.

There was nothing like discovering how many execution you could do with a single item that was at your disposal, yes it was very gory and even got blamed for somethings in the news over here in the UK (we won’t get into that though). Yet I can’t help but want to play this game again. However would they be allowed to publish such a game in this age?

I would imagine this is on every gamers list of great games from older generations. Time Splitters and Time Splitters 2 was just something else. They were fun, well designed and could be a challenge at times. Me and my brothers used to play through the co-op together on the hardest settings, we would even strategize in some way.

Developed by Free Radical Design, released in 2000 Time Splitters is a game which stood apart from the rest during its time. Gaining an 8 stars and above by most reviewers.

Nothing was better for me at the time. The story line which involved traveling back in time spanning 100 years, the co-op and multiplayer, not to mention the massively enjoyable challenge mode. I remember working so hard to unlock all of the characters possible so we had a huge selection to choose from when we played multiplayer.

One of my favourite things about the Time Splitters franchise is something simple. When you choose your character there would be an annimation and they would say something.

I remember when I first played Freedom Fighters and well, after that I couldn’t put it down. It was just the best game I ever had played at the time. The game dynamics, story line and even the split screen multiplayer was just something I had never seen before.

Released in 2003 by IO Interactive and Electronic Arts, from the makers of Hitman you just expected this game to be on a level of its own.

I would play the game from start to finish several times and I even played it over this Christmas with my brother for a bit. It’s just one of those games that once you pick up and starts playing you actually don’t want to put it down. I believe I owned this originally for the GameCube but once I switched to PlayStation 2 it was my first purchase because I knew how much fun I would have on it.

I think could be on of the most wanted reboots by a lot of games (well I am hoping so). This is why it has earned the top spot on my list. Nothing was better at it during its time.

Left 4 Dead 3 Rumours Arise

Recent rumours have come to light regarding valves next game release. With lead writer Marc Laidlaw recently retiring, it has been rumoured that Half Life 3 has been put on hold and Left 4 Dead 3 will be taking its place as valves next release.

Similar to the two previous instalments, Left 4 Dead 3 will have 4 main characters (3 male 1 female), rumoured to be named Irvin, Garret Jr., Keenan and Katherin. Along with these are the 6 rumoured playable campaigns, No Mercy, Cliff-Hanger, Early Destination, Crashland, Impasse and Inquisitor Land.

If these rumours turn out to be true then oh boy can I not wait. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous two and have been eagerly awaiting a third for a long time. I will be interesting in seeing what new special infected they will introduce to the game as well as game modes if any.

Either way if this is true, it will be one of my pre-orders for 2017.

Bungie Leaving Gamers in the Dark

Bungie recently announced that their weekly update will return January 21st, and will allow fans to see a preview of the next game update, which will officially launch ‘sometime’ in February.

No specifics were mentioned, but many people believe that this news relates back to Bungies December tease regarding a new raid and DLC for this year. Guardians received a few new materials so far this year, these were simply, 15 Motes of Light, 15 Strange Coins and an Emblem.

AS for now, it is left to our imagination as to what is next in store for Destiny this coming February, since Bungie promised that the first Weekly Update of 2016 won’t disclose anything of relevance. I am hoping that Bungie release something which will keep Destiny going especially with the likes of Uncharted 4, Gears of War 4 and The Division being released this year.

I honestly believe that this is a mistake on Bungie’s behalf; they should reveal to gamers what they’re planning for Destiny and not leave people in the dark, as this too me could push gamers away from Destiny’s action-MMO towards some other titles.

Far Cry Primal Focusing on Single Player

A story recently broke regarding Ubsoft’s next Far Cry instalment. They revealed that they are focusing on making Far Cry Primal ‘a great single player experience and will not feature any multiplayer or co-op’.

Since the release of the franchise, Far Cry has always contained a form of multiplayer. However this seemed to have not impressed many Far Cry fans (much like when they added multiplayer into Assassin’s Creed in my opinion), even with Far Cry 3 and 4 containing a co-op mode where you and a friend could team up and freely explore the world, leaving main missions inaccessible.

Many hard-core Far Cry fans expressed their strong feeling of disappointment regarding this news about Primal. I personally feel like this is a good thing, let’s face it, there is nothing better than sinking your teeth into a juicy, action packed and a well written story line. Nothing is better for me, no amount of multiplayer or co-op could ever change that.

So my question for you is simple. How do you feel about Far Cry: Primal only being single player?

Assassin’s Creed Rumours Surface

A recent rumour regarding Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game could see us not have another instalment until 2017. Rumours surfaced first on 4chan from an unconfirmed source, claiming to be a Ubisoft employee.

Kotaku also published rumours revealing that several sources have approached them with similar information. Eligibly the next instalment into the franchise is codenamed ‘Empire’ and will be set in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome, which could possibly mean a new trilogy is in the works.

‘Empire’ will is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal ,who brought us Black Flag and Unity. In my opinion Black Flag was an embarrassment to the franchise, with Unity just scraping a positive rating from me. I am really hoping that the year gap Ubisoft have opted for, really pays off for them! It will give them time to work out all the bugs and glitches, which made Unity’s launch one of the worst in 2014.

A lot of people have spoken about feeling ‘franchise fatigue’ within recent years regarding Assassin’s Creed. I can see why they feel so, with yearly releases not reaching the standards we have known and loved regarding the Assassin’s Creed franchise. With Syndicates release last year, which was one of the best games within the franchise since Assassin’s Creed III in my eyes, the bar has been set by Ubisoft Quebec for Ubisoft Montreal. The only question now is can they reach and surpass that bar?

ReCore’s Anonymous Lead Writer Revealed

A recent article has revealed details about the XBOX One exclusive ‘ReCore’. Developer Microsoft Studios has hired Joseph Staten, who has previously contributed to Halo and Destiny as lead writer.

With this addition to the ReCore team, I am highly expecting there to be excellent written missions, superb cinematics and great dialogue. This is just what Microsoft Studios need to give ReCore the edge over some of the other exclusives on the XBOX platform and on the PS4. {Might even give Uncharted 4 a run for its money}. This is the first bit of news we have read about ReCore, since the debut at E3 2015, which could mean that a delay isn’t as likely as I previously imagined.
